p–13346094849040—-13346094849041—-13346094849042–At 552am Huntersville Station 2 was dispatched to a reportedoutside fire located in the woods behind Coastal Way in the Tanners CreekSubdivision. Huntersville E22 responded and arrived on scene within minutes reportingsmoke in the area with a line of fire observed in the woods. E22 relocated tothe rear of Hopewell High School and entered the woods where they found a largefire growing in the woods spreading outwards towards the Tanner CreekSubdivision and Platon avenue just off Hambright road. E22 establishedcommand and requested the additional response of a Brush unit from Station 2and Brush 2 responded to the scene. At 630am command requested additionalresources of brush units and tankers. Brush 1 from Station 1 along with Tankers1 4 and Brush 22 from Station 2 also responded to the scene. Long Creek FireDepartment sent Engine 3 and Brush 6 to assist. The fire was aggressively attackedfrom the Hopewell High School and Platon avenue sides of the fire. Command requestedthe Forestry service to respond along with their dozer to cut a perimeteraround the fire. Approximately 28 firefighters worked the fire for over 1.5hrsand the fire was declared under control around 725am however units remainedon location for almost another 3 hrs while hot spots were identified and theForestry Service cleared a perimeter around the burn area.
