HFD Engine 2, Engine 4, Engine 1, Ladder 4, and Tower 1 responded to a Structure fire in Station 2’s first due area on Vesper Drive. Firefighter/Treasurer Henry Cook advised on the radio that it was a working fire and the incident was upgraded immediately. HFD Engine 2 was first on scene and went right to work, Capt. Kevin Auten and his crew stretched a 1-3/4″ line inside the residence and assumed Command of the incident from the inside. Capt. Auten advised they had fire in the attic and when Ladder 4 arrived they went to the roof to ventilate. Capt. Irvin arrived on scene and took over Command of the incident. The fire was controlled in 30 mins but was a very tough fight for crews because of the wind gusts today. No serious injuries were reported and a resident was at home at the time of the fire who self evacuated. Heavy damage to the home in the rear and attic of the structure.
