STRUCTURE FIRE HOLBROOKS RD STATION #1 FIRST DUE

 February 6, 2012

pnbspspan styleline-height 115 font-family Arialsans-serif font-size 10.5ptAt 219am Huntersville Stations 1 and 3 along with Long Creek Fire Department and North Mecklenburg Rescue were dispatched to a reported working structure fire with entrapment on Holbrooks road in Huntersville. Engine 1 arrived on scene within minutes and found a single story house heavily involved with fire showing out the front door. Engine 1s crew immediately observed one occupant being assisted out of a bedroom window by a neighbor with reports of a second person a child trapped in a bedroom further down the hall. While one FF entered the childs bedroom through an outside window with the assistance of a Huntersville Police Officer other FFs made an aggressive fire attack through the front door using an 1 34 line. The aggressive fire attack knocked the fire down quickly however the search of the bedroom did not turn up the trapped child. Unfortunately the child was located moments later deceased in a common area of the house. The other occupant the mother of the child was transported by Medic suffering from smoke inhalation. HFD units remained on scene for almost 8 hrs due to extensive overhaul work and investigation by the Huntersville Police Department and the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshals office. Members of the HFD family were deeply saddened by the passing of the young boy a talented and gifted 9yr old Huntersville resident that perished during the fire. Jaywalking Bambi ?

Don’t veer for deer.

I’m the deer’s lawyer and he’s innocent

I’m so happy to read that the driver is ok.

Well with all the land being cleared out for new homes the poor deer have no place to go!! Sorry about the wreck, glad the driver is ok!!

I hit and killed a deer in this exact same spot on Saturday afternoon…an overturned totaled car is no joke 🥴

A deer turnover doesn’t sound near as appetizing as an apple turnover.

Miss and run????

"The Deer" 🤣🤣🤣

Glad the driver is ok. Is the deer still in custody?

As the saying goes buck around and find out 🤷‍♂️ 🦌

Oh deer me.

We’re aware of a fire hydrant broken off at Wynfield Creek Parkway at Presswoods Lane (what kind of craziness happened here?)

We’ve experienced a high call volume & social media posting volume directed at HFD for this. Please understand, although we use and count on the fire hydrants for fires; Charlotte Water actually manages the hydrant system. A simple call to 311 usually fixes it.

We, on your behalf, called and spoke with #CLTwater and they’re now on it (they had no idea).

For now we will mark this hydrant out of service and will formulate a plan B if there’s an emergency. Thank you all! #OneTownOneTeam #Call311

I drove by this earlier and was wondering what happened!!!

Did what it was supposed to do, shear off. Had it been a gusher then they certainly would have known sooner.

Just set the hydrant up next to the chiefs car and write him a ticket for blocking a hydrant. Or take a drive down to the PD 😇

How in the world?

I fix them all the time...Easy

Is that a relative?? Asking for a minion

Andrew Sheeler

Thank you!
