As storms moved through the area this afternoon Cornelius, Davidson Fire Department, and our Huntersville Station 2 were dispatched to a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, Cornelius Engine 4 found a working fire in a garage apartment and went to work. There was no one was inside the residence at the time and the fire was controlled in about 25 minutes.

This fire is believed to be the result of a lighting strike from a fast moving storm that swept across the area earlier today. This storms northern edge brushed the Huntersville and Cornelius area while Gaston and Lincoln Counties were not so lucky. Several reports of tornadoes in those counties with heavy damage from wind in the area. Thank you to all the First Responders who worked through this incident in the threat of dangerous weather.
