Some long hours have been put in over the past few months to organize and detail the refurbish of our Rescue 1 and bring it up to date. Rescue 1 is a 2006 Marion Heavy Rescue that has served the department faithfully is currently undergoing a major refurbishment to upgrade for some much needed parts of the truck. New scene lighting, new paint, upgrade to some of the equipment that is carried (new extrication tools, new heavy lifting airbags and struts among other vital equipment) as well as ergonomically tweak the layout/mounting of the new equipment. Work is expected to take approximately 4-6 months and will bring the truck up to current operational efficiency and make our daily operations better for the residents we serve. Along with important updates to the truck, the team of firefighters working on the project are doing an amazing job of keeping the project under budget and working to get truck done as soon as possible.

In the mean time our crews are using HFD Rescue 11 ( a Ford F350 pick-up) to fill in the gaps when extra equipment is needed. Thank you to Asst. Chief Maier and his team of dedicated professionals that are making this project a reality. We will share more pics as the project comes to completion but we are looking forward to getting Rescue 1 back and on the road soon.
