Deputy Chief B. Reagan arrived on scene first with smoke showing from the C side. Engine 1 arrived and found a fire in a milling machine. Facility staff had used fire extinguishers in an attempt to control the blaze prior to HFD arrival. Engine 2 was assigned to set up for a reverse lay to the closest hydrant. Ladder 1 assisted with ventilation. North Mecklenburg Rescue and Medic were added to the call with reports of 10 patients suffering from smoke inhalation in the rear parking lot. Long Creek FD was added as the working fire company.nbsp Medic responded with the Alert Truck one Medic Mass Casualty Bus and three ALS medic units. North Mecklenburg Rescue 11 assumed Medical Group Leader and with a crew of EMTs and Paramedics from NMRS HFD and Medic began triaging patients. All patients were treated on scene with no transports. The fire was controlled within 20 minutes.
