This evening (6:18pm) Station 1 and Tanker 1 responded to an MVA on the Interstate. I-77 Southbound after Exit 25 (Sam Furr) involving multiple vehicles including a horse trailer (with horses) and a propane leak. Cornelius Fire arrived first and assumed command. The propane leak was controlled, patients were packaged for transport and the horses (3 of them) were transferred to another trailer without incident. ALL southbound lanes remained closed for over an hour and a half. Just after all fire/rescue units cleared from the scene…a second multi-vehicle MVA occurred in traffic prior to the original scene.
