This morning, just before 9am, our Stations 1 & 2 responded to Birkdale Village for a building fire. The call originally came in as a kitchen hood fire at Red Rocks Cafe-Birkdale. Crews arrived on scene to a heavy black column of smoke and quickly realized that the fire had translated to the roof area, through the ventilation system, with smoke on all floors above the restaurant. Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue and Davidson Fire Department quickly responded to assist, bringing a total of 3 Ladder trucks, 4 Engines and a heavy Rescue to the scene. The fire was eventually controlled and all smoke removed from the building. Fire crews were clear of the scene by noon and no injuries were reported. Multiple businesses will remain closed for clean up and repairs. Unfortunately with fire inside the walls and roof, we had to cut open walls and the roof membrane in order to access and fully extinguish the fire.
HUGE thanks to Cornelius & Davidson Fire Departments as well as the Huntersville Police Department for a quick response and their hard work on scene. Also a special thank you to Paul Lof for the pictures. All hands working on scene meant we were not able to grab many pictures. Thank You! #NorthEnd
